PROFblogs

Introduction

From time to time, while working as Professor of Ageing, Tracey shared her thoughts with colleagues and networks on issues that arose or if she was invited to comment. Feedback from many quarters is that they enjoyed her blogs and found them interesting and as starting points for further discussion and debate. Throughout her career she was committed to paying attention to what was going on around her, getting involved by helping to identify and solve problems, and taking a stand on issues that, for her, constituted a ‘line in the sand’.

As a Ministerial appointee in early 2011 to the National Lead Clinicians Group (NLCG), she provided advice on issues and information concerning the various sectors associated with ageing and related services. The work underway by members of the NLCG included providing short blogs for a website being built as part of the public communication goals. Tracey wrote some of these and collaborated on other topics with other members of the NLCG. To our knowledge, these blogs were never published because the NLCG did not long survive the change of government and was disbanded in December 2015. Included are other blogs written as Professor of Ageing and shared with colleagues in the academic and clinical health care sectors as a way of promoting the transfer of research to clinical and teaching practice.

On this page is a selection of those blogs. Many relate to earlier times but maybe the issues remain current and are therefore worthy of further discussion.
